Lars and I was a 505 team for 3 years (1987-90) until he had to stop sailing due to back problems. We finished 5th at the worlds in Helsinki and 9th in Felixstowe which we were very pleased with. While I joined forces with Olle again to keep on sailing, Lars became a very successful IT consulting company leader, as well as a keen race and rally car driver!
In September 2001 Lars bought my Waterat 505 (8232) in due time to prepare and participate the worlds in Malmoe in 2003 as helmsman together with Bo Ringdahl as crew mate. At that time I ordered a Rondar 505 (8806) from Holger Jess. 3 years later in 2005, after I sold back 8806 to Holger, Lars offered me and Olle to borrow 8232 which we did until after the 2007 worlds i Adelaide when my current Waterat 505 (8926) was delivered, which at that time was concidered to be the final built Waterat 505. Which fortunately it wasn't! 8232 was then sold to Denmark where it is still being raced by Jonas Christiansen (Hellerup Sejlklub).
The fun photo below is on Olle and Lars at the worlds in Felixstowe when Olle
(as being the helmsman) had teamed up with
Pelle Ek as crew in
a borrowed nice looking Parker 505.
But even though both Olle and Pelle are very good Laser sailors they had no
success at the 1989 505 worlds. Documented as such in a Swedish report,
including notes from an incident with Les Everitt on the race course, in where
the language translation in FB probably will suffer a bit...
