5o5 GER-8775
Built by Rondar Raceboats and fitted out by SEGELSPORT JESS

Enclosed details of 8775 which is similar to 8788.

Controlls on the sides / on seat tank 2 cleats for jib block up /down and in/out
both sides linked and symetrical.

Controlls going out from cap to recess on both sides are, starting from back:
Kicker, forestay/rake, shrouds, mast ram down front one not going out is ram up.

Vertical system workes very easy even under load going upwind.
Pin is sliding in the track and as it stands out at top (but out of the way as beside
the head of board) it can also be pushed down again. Both ropes go back to skipper
and is continues rope as lifting is same amount of rope as dropping again.
So no loose loop of rope lying around in boat.

Notice the strong reinforced front thwart.
There is also a strong reinforcement inside the side tank to take
the high sideways load at top of case caused by long board.
Tom Swift (current owner) only changed 8775 to transom sheeting.

**Holger Jess**

New stainless steele transom fittings which have 10mm pin.
This is what we use since last year. Rudderfittings from Holt with holes enlarged to 10mm.

Hi Ebbe - got your mail.
Have also seen your great swedish homepage Worlds report.
Have told german webmaster to contact you and copy some to german homepage

Enclosed details of 8775 which is stored here at the moment and is similar to 8788 on 8788 only the mast was standing 1 cm fuirther back in boat and board is 2cm further forward - so we moved balance in total by 3cm and I can tell that was a difference to notice. We recorded all measurements from 8788 and I also got all Kristers measurements

Have a look into layout and come back with details

Notice on 8775 the strong reinforced front thwart- there is also a strong reinforcement inside the side tank to take the high sideways load at top of case caused by long board

Tom Swift only changed 8775 to transom sheeting

We will stay with transverse tube at back thwart as we need all ropes out to gunwhale to be able to adjust quick and efficient as we most sail in shifty and gusty conditions in Northen Europe (with cloud influence). That is a big advantage against the Waterat or Duvoisin layout.
We fitted steel tube to make it heavy and it is angled forward to allow skipper to sit a bit further forward withpout stepping over with leg.

Rondar can have any colour, but do not take red or yellow.

Both colours are extremly difficult to repair and yellow is heavy as it needs quit a lot of gelcoat.

Hello Holger,
Most things looks great but there are a few things that I want to have fitted out differently.

Some questions I have:
Whats the cost to have the Verticalo system installed?
Please describe what controls you have on the tanks and also the ones on the CB case.
Where are the cleats and release for your tweak-lines?
Where are your strut up/down control located?

Why do you use wire and not vectran/dynema rope for the shroud trim at tank sides?
What about if I want some Harken fittings instead of Ronstan? Like the Harken low swivel base jammer with rachet block for the mainsheet.
How much does the boat weight without any fittings on?
What model of trolleys are available?

Not wanted:
The spin sheet cleats at the shrouds: I want to put them on myself. See photo
Main sheet system: I probably want to put this on myself. If you can't convince me that your system is better then I want to make it my way. I'm not sure how you have it but recall that Wolfgang use a track system and not a traditional rope bridle like what Krister and I use. This means that there must be "room over" on the tank in order to fasten the blocks and cleats which we use. The mainsheet swivel, on the CB case end, maybe has to be moved slightly backwards a bit.

Wanted:
Trimlines for shroud and forestay ajustments: as you have it on the deck twart.
Jib trim: Identical to what you have. With two cheak blocks on the tanks. I guess the outboard one is used in heavy wind/sea conditions when you want to get the jib out a bit more. pls include the small piece of plastics that you have put on the aft screws on these blocks.
Trapeze rubber cord: We have a plastic bullseye with Ferrule.
Rudder tiller extension: Ronstan telescopic (RF3132).
Autorachet blocks for spi-sheat.
Bailers: How many do you have and where are they located? We have only two, one small at the front right side and one max large just behind the CB case.
CB flaps: We have just sailing cloth reinforced with a mylar wowen type of material inside. At the front we have a rubber seal to keep water turbolence to a minimum in the case when the board jibes.
Colour: I was thinking on having the same colours as on my Waterat. White bottom, yellow sides and the same light grey on tanks.

Regards,
Ebbe

Hi Ebbe
here finally is reply to your questions.
I met Paul Young last week at Dsseldorf Show when he delivered K6 for Johan which I took to here.

505 for you would be available in may - Paul cannot build more boats earlier unfortunately. Maybe it would be possible to combine collection of boat with a regatta here?

From early April Krister will have 2 boats so you could maybe practice with him in one of these boats.

Tom Bojland, who will also have a new Rondar, will borrow Schonherrs 505 til he got his new one.

Foil project is progressing, moulds CNC cut - will mail you some shots.

Vertical system: completely fitted track and system etc would be extra about 250€.

Controlls on the sides / on seat tank 2 cleats for jib block up /down and in/out both sides linked and symetrical.

Controlls going out from cap to recess on both sides are:
starting from back: Kicker, forestay/rake, shrouds, mast ram down front one not going out is ram up.

Shrouds: wire used as we had spectra jamming into sides of sheaves and also you would always see if wire gets damaged so less risk and weight is no point here.

Transverse back thwart tube is reverted (rewuitred) to hold the case top and also take the 2 short tracks for triangle system for mainsheet bridle we will stay with that system as transom sheeting is shit in gusty conditions as it will be very critical with kicker adjustment and in northern Europe we always have clouds and gusts.

Transom sheeting is nice in light or consistant breezes.

Fittings: we prefer Ronstan as these are great value for money and f.x. our old boat 8670 is still completly fitted with the first fittings from 97 apart from 4 blocks and that boat had a very hard live and been used a lot by us and Grge. Well, some details can change to Harken, but will not change completly.

We are sealing all fittings with Epoxy with filler and some also with Sikaflex as well.

I still got one "old style " Rapide trolley available.

I agree: Olle needs some new gear !!!! what ? Drysuit +.....

Cleats at shrouds work perfekt as they need to be high to avoid sheeet slipping out. Platform is good to step your foot against it if you start to nosedive the boat on a very windy run hitting a wave and trying to avoid running forward. Was good at Abersoch 1 day.

wanted:
yes- all no problem
But spi ratchet is better on transom as it is a 180 degree turn there so you need a large strong block there and in front it is always banging against tank in also in the way.

2 bailers is o.k. but the left big one has to be far enough back and the right front one far enough forward at deepest point of hull. No 3. bailer required - we can open our transom flaps and also close them with a little cleat near mainsheet cleat so flaps can stay open when very windy

More questions ?

We will soon also get HA rudder mould done.
