Tweakers are added using very low
stretch rope which is tied around one trapeze wire and passed
through the mast using the old trapeze wire T sockets (as these are generally well rounded inside the mast) and then
tied around the other trapeze wire. |
Trapeze "wire"
tweakers or twings |
Inside the mast a rope is attached to
the middle of the rope passing through the mast, again this has to be
very low stretch rope, and this is threaded down the mast and back to
the helmsman. This rope threaded down the mast can slide along the rope
passed through the mast to ensure that the tweakers pull both trapeze wires very tight to the mast when they are pulled on.
Apparently it's not too pleasant for
the crew if the helm releases the tweakers whist the crew is on the wire
as you drop about 6 inches, quickly !
