Malmö Segelsällskap (Malmoe Sailing Society) ”MSS” was founded in 1876. MSS has many skilled sailors in
different ages of which the club is very proud. MSS boats/crew have participated in the last five Olympic
Games. The MSS club house is at Limhamn’s yachtharbour, situated about six km. southwest of the
centre of Malmö. The Marina has space for about 1.100yachts.
MSS office (in the clubhouse) is manned daily between
8 am and 4 p.m. The clubhouse is open to the public and MSS guests have many facilities as member’s
room and loft, a spacious public restaurant with good food and wine, toilets, showers, sauna etc. Close to
the clubhouse we have the dinghy parking area and three slipways. There is a carparking area outside the
clubhouse.
The regatta courses will be placed close to the
harbour, which will make the races more attractive for the spectators. The view of the sailing yachts with the
Oresund Bridge in the background is very impressive – and best enjoyed from the MSS clubhouse
restaurant terrace.
Limhamn’s City Centre with all kind of stores,
restaurants etc is about 500 metres from the club. There is a leisure and beach area with wide grassy plains about
400 metres south of the club. A bit further south there is also a public bath with separated departments for
ladies and gentlemen and a nice camping area etc.
Buses to Malmoe City center (with its large shopping centers, hotels etc.) depart about 400 meters from the
club and the trip takes about 15 minutes.
The Oresund Bridge between Malmö (Sweden) and
Copenhagen (Denmark) had its grand opening ceremony on July 1st, 2000 and is now open for car traffic
and train travellers. The nearest railwaystation to Limhamn’s marina is ”Svågertorp”. A bus connection
to the station is available 500 metres from the club. The trip to Copenhagen by train takes about 20 minutes.
Copenhagen is a big ”international” city and offers unlimited shopping and amusements.
Copenhagen International Airport is located at the Danish end of the Oresund Bridge. The train between
Malmoe and Copenhagen stops at the airport and the travel time (public communications) between the MSS
club and the airport is about 30-40 minutes (20 minutes with car).
