PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF RACE

INTERNATIONAL 505 CLASS
2003 International Swedish Championship (Pre Worlds)

July 21 - 24
and
2003 International 505 Class 48th World Championship
July 25 - August 1

1. ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The Organising Authority for the regatta is Malmö Segel Sällskap on behalf of the International 505 Yacht Racing Association and the Swedish 505-Class Association.
2. RULES
The Championship will governed by:
- the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
- the rules of the International 505 Class Yacht Racing Association
   (except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions.)
- and by the sailing instructions
- if there is a conflict between languages, the English text will prevail.
3. AMENDMENTS
The Organising Authority reserves the right to amend this notice of race. Any changes before 2003 May 1st will be published on the regatta website. Subsequent changes will also be posted on the regatta notice board.
4. ADVERTISING
The regatta will be classified as a Category C Event in accordance with Appendix 1 of the RRS and the Prescriptions of the SSF. Competing boats may be required to display advertising of the Event Sponsor, on each side of the boat, on the forward 25% of the hull.
5. ELIGIBILITY
Competitors shall meet the requirements of RRS Appendix 2, be members of the International 505 Class Yacht Racing Association and have paid the entry fee for the regatta. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance. The Organising Authority will not stipulate a maximum number of entries.
6. ENTRIES
Entries, together with full payment of entry fees, shall arrive to the address shown on the Entry Form, before June 1st 2003.
Entry fees are 500 Euro per boat. This includes entry for both regattas, and also entry to all social events.
A late entry fee penalty (100 Euro) will be payable on entries received after June 1st 2003.

8. REGISTRATION
Registration will take place at the Regatta Office, Malmö Segel Sällskap Clubhouse, as follows:
Monday July 21 to Friday July 25, 10.00-18.00
9. MEASUREMENT
Measurement will take place at the Clubhouse area as follows:
Thursday July 24      10.00-16.00
Friday July 25             10.00-18.00
A valid International 505 Class measurement certificate shall be presented for each boat. No more than two suits of sails and two sets of spares may be presented for measurement. Boats may be subject to further inspections during the regattas.
10. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
A printed copy of the sailing instructions for each championship will be available upon registration at MSS. Electronic copies may be available earlier on the regatta website.
11. COURSES
The courses will be detailed in the sailing instructions. Gate start will be used except in extreme circumstances.
12. SCORING
The Low Point scoring system, Appendix A of the RRS will apply. A minimum of three races shall be completed to constitute the World Championship.
(The International Swedish Championship 4 races)
13. JURY
A National Jury will be constituted for the International Swedish Championship.
An International Jury will be constituted for the World Championship in accordance with Appendix M of the RRS and the decisions of the Jury will be final in accordance with RRS 70.4. The right of appeal is denied.
14. PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded for the International Swedish Championship as follows:
- The Championship's plaques to the top 3 Crews.
- MSS prizes to the top 10 Crews

Prizes will be awarded for the World Championship as follows:
- The top ten Crews overall
- The first female crew
- The firs youth team, both under 25 years age (Juni 1 2003)
- First boat overall with no discards
- Last boat overall, which finished all heats
- "Daily first prize" to the heat-winners will be presented every day.

17. RESPONSIBILITY
Malmö Segel Sällskap accepts no responsibility for injury or loss of life to participants or to others, or for loss or damage to any boat in a race or regatta organised by the Club, nor for any other loss or damage resulting from or attributed to the race or the regatta.
