505 Twin

Twin Trapezing on the 505 was started by Jean-Marie Danielou and Daniel Nottet September 1969 off Cherbourg. A regatta for twin trapeze 505's was a regular fixture for several years. The picture was taken from the front cover of the French magazine Yachting No. 83 November 1969.

When the 14's started using twin trapeze in the mid '80s, the young 505 sailors were all for the 505 adopting twin trapeze. At a meeting during the 1985 Europeans at Mount's Bay, England the IRC was asked to prepare a report to be presented at the AGM in Japan. The report proposed that the Class should not adopt twin trapeze. This was supported by the members present. More of the history of the 505 in the next issue.
