At the time of the Association AGM in 1999,
it was apparent that there were likely to be changes in the ISAF Advertising Code.
Accordingly, the International Executive Committee sought, and was given authority by the
membership, to take such action as necessary to maintain the class policy on advertising,
as far as was reasonable. The ISAF proposals were not finalised by the 2000 AGM, and the
authority was renewed. Under this authority, the International Executive Committee has
made the following decision on behalf of the International 505 Class Association:
In accordance with ISAF Advertising Code Regulation 20.4.2(a), the International 505 Class
Association has decided that:
The advertising category to be applied to the International 505 Class shall be Category C.
The Association has decided not to restrict advertising within Category C (Regulation
20.4.5). In view of RRS 76.1 and ISAF Regulations 20.7 and 20.8, the Class will not charge
an additional entry fee for advertising at International Championships.
The International Executive Committee will make a proposal at the 2001 AGM to seek
confirmation of its future policy from the membership.
The reason for the decision is that Category B has been abolished as from 1st April 2001.
If the Class had not made this ruling, Category A would apply. The IEC considers that the
above decision is as close as can reasonably be achieved within the new RRS to the wishes
of the membership as indicated in previous ballots. There will be no advertising fee for
boats carrying advertising at the forthcoming World Championship at Cascais in September
2001.
