TROTMAN/MILLS CAPTURE TITLE IN THE SEA-LAND 43RD INTERNATIONAL 505 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

HYANNIS, MASS. - The seventh and final race of the Sea-Land 43rd International 505 World Championship was held on Nantucket Sound in a building blustery South-southwesterly wind that reached 15 knots. Skipper Nick Trotman of Manchester, MA and crewman Mike Mills of Newport, Rhode Island finished 14th in the race, while the only team that could catch them for the championship title finished 4th, not enough to catch Trotman/Mills. These scores clinched the world championship title for Trotman/Mills, over a fleet of 106 505s, from the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, France, Tanzania and Australia.

The team of Mark Upton-Brown and Ian Mitchell of Great Britain streaked to a first place victory in today's race. Mike Zani and Peter Alarie of Rhode Island were 2nd, Howard Hamlin and Mike Martin from California were 3rd, Ian Barker and Daniel Cripps from Great Britain 4th, while Leslie Nathanson and Ian Gregg of Australia 5th.

Overall, Trotman/Mills won with 41.7 points, Hamlin/Martin were second with 47.4, Ian Barker/Daniel Cripps third with 49.4 points, Mike Zani/Peter Alarie 4th with 55.4 points, Ian Pinnell/Nick Powell of Great Britain 5th with 71.7 points, Mark Upton-Brown/Ian Mitchell of Great Britain 6th with 74 points, Ethan Bixby/Cam Lewis of the USA 7th with 95.7, Jim Hunt/Nick Beloe of Great Britain 8th with 96.7 points, Chips Howarth/Bill Masterman 9th with 96.7 points, and Philippe Boite/Jean Luc Muzellec of France 10th with 98 points.

Trotman and Mills will receive the impressive International 505 Championship Trophy at tonight's awards banquet.
