505 NM i Vallensbaek, Kögebukten/Danmark 10-11 augusti, 2013
Nordic championships in Denmark with superior Danes In August, the autumn season started with the Nordic and Danish championships in Vallensbaek, a good place that is reasonably close to the west and south coast's Swedish 505 sailors Eight Swedish boats met 10 Danish, some Finnish and one German. The Danes dominated with the first three places and Jorgen and Jacob Bojsen-Möller were superior winners. They mastered all the conditions in the changing weather. Ebbe and Olle were the best Swedes in 5th place. Nordics was a good tune-up for those who were going to the European Championships in Medemblik a few weeks later. Report from Nordic & Danish Championship by Lars Bjerke: This year we became 8 Swedish crews that participated in this year's Nordics in Vallensbaek, a little southeast of Copenhagen. The Danes lined up with 10 boats and 2 boats from Finland. Also a boat from Germany. Unfortunately, Jan Saugmann was missing, who was not ready with the fit-out of his new boat from Poland. Unfortunately, I do not know who is intended as his crew. Sven and Pia came with their new Parker 505, which was the introduction on the competition track for the new Parker model. Many curious glances gathered around this boat. We ourselves came with newly installed double booms, not really ready-made, so Saturday morning was a bit stressful. Saturday's 4 race started in a south
to southeast wind of about 4 m / s. The current headed north so we
thought the choice of route was a given. Towards land. In the distance,
a cloud bank also seemed to be building up in the south. Sailing against
the clouds was therefore good. This was followed by a number of
attempts to start, which were blown off right at the start. All the
shots made us deaf. The second race was similar. We bet on the starboard edge again. Then comes the great turn to the east. With us we had both Ebbe and Bojsen-Moller. The difference is that they sail up to good positions anyway. Led all the way, Fabiola did, but just before the finish, Bojsen-Moller turned around and took the nail. Extremely well sailed by Fabiola, to hold out for so long. She is now helmsman and father Michael as the crew. The two following races will be quite similar with increasing winds that maximize at 8 m / s and thus growing seawater. Hard to get through the waves. Easy to cross stop. Trimming, more power and speed are coming. We always have Swedish boats around us and the occasional Dane or Finn. It can be seen that we Swedes train together. Now a new problem arises. The pull-out lines for the spin barriers are too thin for the rats we have. Pang !!! This is how the spin boom goes in when the pressure becomes too great. Happens a number of times per bow. In the last race I sit and hold the
pull line all the time while Tore drives the big one and at the same
time the spinnaker. Sunday began with replacing the
pull-out lines with coarser lines. Again something stressful and late
out. Race 6 is sailed in more varying wind
strength and changing winds. Hard to keep up. For race 7, the wind has turned more to the southwest and increased significantly. Everyone is now sailing as fast as possible towards land for port, where calmer seas prevail and the countercurrent is less. Maybe not so fun sailing in that sense, but it is important to chase speed all the time. When long-lasting villages of perhaps up to 13 m / s come, the wind turns almost 10 degrees to the west. Jädrans what it knocks in the opposite sea, hard to see for all the splash. We have the same boats around us again. New acquaintance, however, is Per Larsen DEN 9025 which goes low but fast. We rounded the last top mark before him and also Tord and Tomas. Starboard escape wind ok, gybe as well. Per is just above us on his way to the finish line. Then a big gust comes at the same time as we enter a big wave. It ends with broach and capsize and then most of the remaining fleet has passed. Damn !!!!!!!!! Summation: - Very instructive to sail here in this fleet. How can we get these conditions at home? By the pen Note: Lars Darling photographed but his photos are no longer available online. |
