The Waterat 505 Class dinghy is an exceptional boat, designed and built for racing at the top of the class. The hulls remain light stiff and strong for an extended, active racing life. Standard ConstructionThe boats are carefully built of a composite laminate using glass and Kevlar cloth with epoxy resins. Honeycomb core is used throughout the hull and deck, and carbon fiber is used for structural reinforcement. The surface finish is a polyester gelcoat for simple maintenance. Rig, centerboard, and hull loads are carried by bulkheads and beam structures built into the boat. All new boats are well below minimum weight, with correctors installed to meet the measurement requirements. V2 ConstructionThis construction option uses carbon and Kevlar cloth to reduce the laminate weight forward of the diagonal bulkead and aft of the thwart. The finished hull weight is the same as for the standard hull. RiggingThe standard rigging package includes the most popular gear, and systems have been designed for less common options. Custom rigging is also available. Hardware is carefully selected for quality and includes Waterat centerboard and rudder, Proctor spars, fittings from Harken, Ronstan, Servo, Sea Sure, and custom parts. All fully rigged boats are supplied ready to race - just put the mast up and launch. Each boat is built to order. The time required from order to completion can vary from 2 to 6 months, depending on work schedules. All work is guaranteed, and all boats are provided with a class measurement certificate.
