Choice of spar section is critical to performance. Material, size, wall thickness, weight and shape affect both static bending characteristics and dynamic characteristics ("gust response").

We design our sections to take class rules to the limit: - for example the Olympus boom section was designed to be simply the stiffest 470 boom possible within class rules, while the Vectis exploits the Snipe minimum mast weight to give a low windage, responsive mast section.

Whatever your class, the extensive Proctor section range ensures that there is a mast and boom available with optimum performance. For recommendations for your particular class, please consult our specific class data sheet.
